Every treatment at XTM Aesthetics includes personalised aftercare advice tailored to the procedure you’ve received. As aftercare requirements vary between treatments, it’s important that you follow the specific guidance given to you during your appointment. 

The information below is intended as general guidance only.

General Aftercare Advice 

  • Stay well hydrated by drinking plenty of water.  
  • Avoid touching, rubbing or picking at the treated area unless advised otherwise. 
  • Wear SPF50 daily to help protect your skin. 
  • Avoid excessive heat, including saunas, steam rooms, hot tubs and prolonged sun exposure for the recommended period. 
  • Avoid strenuous exercise for the period advised following treatment. 
  • Follow any skincare or product recommendations given during your appointment. 
  • If you’ve received an injectable treatment, avoid lying flat for 4-6 hours unless advised differently. 

What you may experience

Depending on your treatment, it is completely normal to experience some temporary side effects while your body heals. These may include; 

  • Temporary mild redness 
  • Swelling 
  • Tenderness 
  • Bruising 
  • Dryness or peeling 
  • Slight sensitivity 
  • Gradual results developing over several days or weeks 

These effects are usually temporary and will vary depending on the treatment performed.

FAQs

For many treatments, it’s best to avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours.

Some treatments require you to avoid makeup for at least 24 hours.

Direct sun exposure should generally be avoided following many skin treatments. Always wear SPF50 and follow the guidance given during your appointment.

Alcohol may increase the risk of bruising or swelling after some injectable treatments. Where appropriate, you will be advised how long to avoid alcohol.

This depends on your treatment. Some treatments provide immediate improvements, while others develop gradually over several days to weeks. Your practitioner will explain what to expect before your treatment.
